Volunteer Teaching English in Nepal
Would you like to volunteer with disadvantaged kids in Nepal? Would you like experience teaching in a classroom?
Nepal is home to eight of the top ten tallest mountains in the world. Mighty peaks and sweeping valleys echo with the call of adventure. The people are welcoming and friendly, and there’s much to discover of the country’s rich culture and history.
Nepal may be rich in natural beauty, but unfortunately many of its people are poor.
In Nepal access to good English education is only available to rich families as public schools do not have the resources and manpower necessary to provide a good English education, which hurts children from low-income families.
When you work as volunteer English teacher you will help provide crucial English skills to children from poor backgrounds, giving them a chance to compete in the job market as adults and lowering the impact of economic inequality in the country.
Volunteer teaching English in Nepal in local schools and give these kids the skills they need to go on to have bright and successful futures with well-paying jobs in the lucrative tourism industry. Contact IFRE today to make a difference in the lives of impoverished Nepalese children!

Volunteer Responsibilities and Impact:
You will be teaching English to disadvantaged Nepalese kids in local primary schools. You will mainly be assigned English classes; however other subjects such as math, science, geography and social studies are available as well.
If you have experience in a classroom, you can lead the class. If you are just starting out teaching, you will educate the kids under the mentorship of the primary teacher. You will also help by giving educational tours, helping your students with their homework, and pitching in on administrative tasks as needed.
Your time volunteering teaching English in Nepal will have a huge impact on these children’s lives and open up a whole new world to them. Beyond the well-paying jobs available in Nepal’s tourism industry, there will be many more career paths open to them. Help give back while gaining professional teaching experience!
Skills and Qualifications:
Anyone can volunteer to teach English in Nepal! There are no specific qualifications needed to join IFRE's project beyond having a strong fluency in English, both written and verbal. No teaching certification is required. You should be flexible, patient, a good role model for the kids, and be passionate about teaching and making a difference with disadvantaged youth.

Since you’ll be working in a school, you can expect your work to fall within school hours. School is held Sunday through Friday. You can opt to teach for a full day if you’d like, but you are only expected to teach 3-4 hours per day. This usually takes the form of leading four to five 45-minute classes.
Each school operates a little differently, so you will receive more information on your schedule once we have selected your final placement for our Nepal volunteer teaching program. Here’s a sample schedule to give you a rough idea of what to expect.
